TRADITIONAL HANDLOOM FABRICS
Sourced from artisanal villages across India, each fabric has a story to tell.
Sierra
THE DURRIE PIT LOOM
This decorative handloom called Dhurrie is indigenous to Rajasthan and was used as a means of surviving in harsh desert climate as it keeps warm in winters and cold in summers. This made for an ideal use-case for carpets which are found even today in the colourful streets of Udaipur. The traditional weave pattern brings out the nostalgia of India during Raj and yet blends well with even the most modern urban backdrops.
Lark
THE HIMACHAL HANDLOOM
This colourful and energetic fabric is hand woven in the mountains using a locally devised wooden loom called Himachal Handloom. Its vibrant rainbow pattern is quintessential Himalayan / Tibetan colour palette made to stand out and add some life to otherwise snow-covered lands where nature is white and grey for most of the year.

THE JACQUARD LOOM
Jacquard, a fabric that is intricately woven with the help of complex machinery, was invented in France by weaver Joseph Marie Jacquard in 1839. The patterns are made using punch-cards, like in early computer programming languages, that only certain masters can read and compile. This art was adopted by Africans in early 1900s and arrived in India few decades later to be known to traditional weavers in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This variant of the wallet, codenamed Juno, has a globetrotting DNA with a rich story to tell.

THE EUROPEAN LOOM
The Firangi Story: A traveler from Europe lands up a small artisanal village in western Rajasthan where they are spinning a traditional handloom and creating vibrant patterns on a fabric through complicated “coding”, similar to a computer code which, when compiled, outputs a particular shape, colour or a design. This traveler who also happens to be a computer programmer joins hands with the locals to create a fabric that is a striking amalgamation of sophisticated European design with a vibrancy of Indian ethnic fabrics.
This is a story of our new series of products we named – The Firangi.

SOLAPURI HANDLOOM
This Jacquard based loom was made popular during the industrial revolution of 16th century by the Peshwas of Maharashtra, specifically in Solapur. The fabric was woven into geometric and floral patterns and became popular as blankets known as Solapuri Chaddars. This fabric was first ever product to become indigenous to Maharashtra and attain Geographical Indication status. Although a typical pattern is much more colourful and complicated, we used a minimal variant of it to blend with our modern design.
