Airlines are often seeking to come up with progressive ways to cram together as many people on a plane as possible, especially in economy class cabins.

But the COVID-19 travel crisis is fundamentally changing this long-held guideline as airlines are bringing social distancing to the skies by every so often even blocking of middle seats.

This could potentially even exchange the way seats are designed and organized on planes post-COVID-19.

As such, designers are conjuring up all sorts of ideas for brand new aeroplane seats that could provide passengers with the maximum privacy—and consequently the maximum protection—as possible.

The idea of separated seats in aeroplanes isn’t novel, at least no longer in commercial enterprise elegance, anyway.

Passengers presently pay a top rate for as much personal area as they can be given, with frequent flyers praising suite-style alternatives which can be more like booths than aircraft seats.

The concept of separated seats in aeroplanes isn’t novel, at least no longer in business elegance, anyway.

Passengers presently pay a top rate for as much private area as they may be given, with common flyers praising suite-style options which might be more like cubicles than aircraft seats.

By the time all is stated and done, there’s a solid chance the worst of the pandemic might’ve passed, and air travel is probably slowly returning to normal.

Is it effective?

As it turns out, partitions might not do much good in stopping the unfold of viruses. If someone who has coronavirus sneezes, the one’s articles disperse in a bubble, which can waft around a partition.

The new layout does raise practical questions about safety, in-flight meal carrier and whether it will occupy a bigger cabin footprint than the usual plane seat arrangement.

Business Traveller Asia-Pacific has reached out to the organisation for greater information.
